Welcome to Views from the Major.

Welcome to this new blog. With all that is happening with our new President and the resulting chaos that is following, I feel it’s my duty as a citizen to begin to re-calibrate and break the bonds of the manufactured consent and conditioning that has plagued our nation over the years as shown so brilliantly in the movie “Network”

In addition, it appears that we Americans have lost a sense of history both locally and globally, which is very dangerous, as we see the very signposts happening right now that happened that led to the events that led to Wold War II-but instead of the the believers of the Jewish faith being targeted as was the case in World War II, it is now the believers of the Islamic faith-we must not let that happen again. Sure, we’ve seen some horrible acts committed by ISIS recently-but let’s not forget all of the atrocities committed by by the IRA during The Troubles (which to us Americans is pretty much a non-event-but ask any British citizen about that time and you’ll get quite a different story.)

Over the next month or so I will be filling in sections of the blog with historical accounts of major events in various areas and subject domains to provide background of what happened in the past (i.e., how we got here), post on current news items with a twist-I will report on a news item 48 hours after the event occurs, simply because the major media outlets heedlessly rush to be first and get the details wrong. So in the meantime, I may be very quiet while I compile all of my goodness to post here. Feel free to subscribe for updates as I post them so you can stay correctly informed without.

Contrary to what President Trump asserts, The United States is still a great country. How he managed to get elected left me and a lot of others gobsmacked. Some of his cabinet post picks are even more appalling. What in the world have we done?

Perhaps this rather prescient clip from the ABC miniseries “Amerika” might jog some memories and make some points clear….

Oh, I almost forgot The Major’s mission: “To protect The Free World in Cyberspace when other’s cant-or won’t”.

The latest Uber data breach incident makes is clear that Uber’s corporate culture is corrupt – and therefore, Uber must die.

Today we found out that Uber suffered a data breach back in 2016, exposing not only data on its 57 million customers, but also on it’s non-employee drivers as well, including drivers license information.

This continues yet another in along history of Uber playing fast and loose on may fronts. The latest response by the new CEO, called in after Uber’s founder, Travis Kalanick’s not-so-wonderful business behavior and business ethics oozed through Uber from its very beginning, is, sadly a little too late.

Uber’s corporate culture is so rotten to the core that no change of CEO and no house-cleaning of its executive ranks can fix this.

Therefore, Uber must die. The very fact that these jokers hired hackers to try to hide the data breach is hard evidence that Uber’s culture is corrupt to its very base, and cannot be saved.

Uber must die.

On the Perma-Ban from Twitter of “Baked Alaska”

It seems that a section of the Twitterverse has has their jimmies rustled by the perma-banning of someone by the name of “Baked Alaska” – most notably by a lot of Trump-ites and MAGA-types, all wailing and gnashing their teeth about “Free Speech is under attack!”

Oh, cry me a river, already. Just a few weeks ago, notorious political hack Roger Stone got perma-banned from Twitter, and was threatening to sue Twitter for hundreds of millions of dollars – yours truly managed to take out one of many of Stone’s other Twitter Accounts he had scurried away:

Score one for us good guys. It’s ironic that Stone called notorious white supremecist and generally evil person Chuck C. “Rage Furby” Johnson batshit crazy and insane, who himself had dozens of Twitter accounts yanked out from under him, and not be aware of this reality.

But, as the great philosopher Ron White says – “Ya can’t fix stupid”:

And still, you get folks who still insist that Twitter is still violating their First Amendment Rights somehow. It’s amazing.

It makes me wonder if any of these people even bothered to actually read what the First Amendment actually says. Well, in case they didn’t, here it is:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Now I don’t know about you, but it seems pretty clear to me that this is a constraint on the US Federal Government, not private corporations – like Twitter is. And let’s also not forget that when one signs up for Twitter, you AGREE to their “Terms Of Service” in order to use Twitter. Now, if you don’t AGREE to their Terms of Service, you just don’t get to use Twitter. And that’s that.

On the Disturbing Global Rise of Nationalism

As The Major’s meat-space analog has been fighting one nasty-ass gift that he inherited along with the corresponding carnage it has caused him, he noticed a very disturbing thing that appears to be happening – and now we can no longer sit on the sidelines and remain silent – that is, the resurrection of Nationalism.

We saw this once before – in Nazi Germany, to be specific, due to some real bad decisions that were made as part of the Germany’s surrender during World War I, and the corresponding rise of a very gifted and twisted individual by the name of Adolph Hitler.

But this go around, this one is not just happening in once country – rather, it’s happening in just about every democratic country where, due to some ill-advised wars in the Middle East causing a massive refugee crises, has left people in these democracies, under control of the European Union, questioning its value and its very existence. Whether you agree or disagree with the EU as a whole, the fact that Europe hasn’t broken out into a war since World War II due to the US and NATO, and now including some former  Eastern Bloc countries along in the process, is a testament to the fact that, whatever the nay-sayers against the Euro-Zone say – has done a pretty decent job on keeping a lid on things.

Now, it goes without saying that The Middle East situation is yet another case of the Major Powers (namely, The USA and Russia) exerting their “Sphere of influence” in the area, along with their puppets. And it’s because of that meddling, that the Euro-zone refugee crises is such a hell-hole that doesn’t seem to be getting any better.  And if you don’t believe me, try listening to the BBC World Service as The Major does – trust me, you’ll learn far more on Auntie Beeb that you will from any of the US’s “Infotainment” felgercarb…

And what gets The Major’s “Jimmie’s Rustled” is when people who don’t know what they don’t know start spouting off nonsense about “The Globalists” taking control of everything..well, hate to break it to you idiots, but Ned Beatty, who played Arthur Sloan in THE MOST FUCKING EXCELLENT MOVIE EVER “Network” laid it out decades ago:

To all of you Nationalists out there – guess what ? It was already cooked in from the start -and there isn’t a fucking thing you can do to stop it.

“Operation: Payback” is now underway against Fox News

In 1976, the movie “Network” was released, which went on to win in 1977 4 Oscars for Best Actor Peter Finch, (the first posthumous awarded Oscar awarded, due to Finch’s death in January 1977), Best Actress Faye Dunaway, Best Supporting Actress Beatrice Straight, and Best Original Screenplay by Paddy Chaeyesfky.

If you have never seen this movie, watch it now – it’s that fucking good, and here’s why, as stated in the Wikipedia article for the movie:

In 2000, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”. In 2002, it was inducted into the Producers Guild of America Hall of Fame as a film that has “set an enduring standard for U.S. American entertainment”.[3] In 2005, the two Writers Guilds of America voted Chayefsky’s script one of the 10 greatest screenplays in the history of cinema.[4] In 2007, the film was 64th among the 100 greatest American films as chosen by the American Film Institute, a ranking slightly higher than the one AFI had given it ten years earlier.

So do yourself (and your millennial friends) a favor and WATCH IT.

The Wikipedia article pretty much tells the story about the movie, so you can go and read it and come up to speed.

So, why is this movie so important for right here and right now, well, let’s take a peek at one of the greatest movie rants ever delivered on the Silver Screen, delivered by none other than Ned Beatty, playing the role of Alan Sloan:

So, why is this scene so important? Well,  it’s actually very simple, and very deadly. In the movie Alan Sloan was ranting at Howard Beale, whose own epic rant is also tres kewl:

And now, its our turn to meddle with the primal forces of nature and deliver the killshot to Fox News by boycotting ALL advertisers that air their commercials on Fox.

Yes, the world is indeed a business, and business spend billions of dollars to protect their brands at all costs (so do the neocons and neoliberals that currently infect the respective GOP and Democratic party hosts.)

Now we’ve seen that going after particular shows does work – after all, it drove Papa Bear off the screen. So, now we turn the knob up to 11.

Rather simple, isn’t it?

So, gang, you know what to do. Please don’t let me, or your country down now at our darkest hour, and even with perp walks a-coming. Now is not the time to be complacent.

You – each and everyone of you – can bring the primal forces of nature to their knees in 90 days, when companies report on their quarterly earnings report on Wall Street. And since the Editorial Board of the WSJ and screeching harpy Jeanette Pirro acre calling for Mueller to step down, now is the time to jump into action and teach Rupert a lesson he’ll take to his grave and leave the kids to clean up after his messes…

So, if you won’t do it for the country, do it for someone you love.

History tells us: Good always defeats evil, and the Glory and Power of Love conquers all. And, as the late Leo Buscaglia said in his KVIE special “Speaking Of Love”

If you miss love, you miss life – please don’t.

The Major, Signing off….

To #TheResistance: It’s time to boycott Public Radio International for mainstreaming @GatewayPundit

It was bad enough that The Stupidest Man on The Internet, Jim Hoft had any followers at all for his blatant Fake News (Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs and Wonkette are good sources for excellent take-downs of the DERPSTER of the Decade:

But somehow, this in-duh-vidual managed to get White House Press passes….

DAFUQ, Indeed.

Then This happened a few days ago over at PRI:

PRI Jim Hoft.jpg

Folks, it takes a lot to upset The Major, short of pissing in his Coke.

PRI International pissed in The Major’s Coke.

Therefore, The Major calls all members of #TheResisance to boycott PRI and all of their products they supply (such as the Marco Wurman’s “Boston Calling”, which gets regular airplay on @bbcworldservice.) It seems that, yet again, the quality of US Journalism has sunk to lows of epic proportions (just like my pasnting of Farhrad Manjoo of the New Work Times.)

PRI’s interview with JIm Hoft is a classic example of normailzing deviance:

Normalizing of deviance is what caused Space Shuttle Challenger to explode minutes into it’s mission.

This cannot stand-so you know what to do.

The Major, signing off….
