Welcome to Views from the Major.

Welcome to this new blog. With all that is happening with our new President and the resulting chaos that is following, I feel it’s my duty as a citizen to begin to re-calibrate and break the bonds of the manufactured consent and conditioning that has plagued our nation over the years as shown so brilliantly in the movie “Network”

In addition, it appears that we Americans have lost a sense of history both locally and globally, which is very dangerous, as we see the very signposts happening right now that happened that led to the events that led to Wold War II-but instead of the the believers of the Jewish faith being targeted as was the case in World War II, it is now the believers of the Islamic faith-we must not let that happen again. Sure, we’ve seen some horrible acts committed by ISIS recently-but let’s not forget all of the atrocities committed by by the IRA during The Troubles (which to us Americans is pretty much a non-event-but ask any British citizen about that time and you’ll get quite a different story.)

Over the next month or so I will be filling in sections of the blog with historical accounts of major events in various areas and subject domains to provide background of what happened in the past (i.e., how we got here), post on current news items with a twist-I will report on a news item 48 hours after the event occurs, simply because the major media outlets heedlessly rush to be first and get the details wrong. So in the meantime, I may be very quiet while I compile all of my goodness to post here. Feel free to subscribe for updates as I post them so you can stay correctly informed without.

Contrary to what President Trump asserts, The United States is still a great country. How he managed to get elected left me and a lot of others gobsmacked. Some of his cabinet post picks are even more appalling. What in the world have we done?

Perhaps this rather prescient clip from the ABC miniseries “Amerika” might jog some memories and make some points clear….

Oh, I almost forgot The Major’s mission: “To protect The Free World in Cyberspace when other’s cant-or won’t”.

To #TheResistance: It’s time to boycott Public Radio International for mainstreaming @GatewayPundit

It was bad enough that The Stupidest Man on The Internet, Jim Hoft had any followers at all for his blatant Fake News (Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs and Wonkette are good sources for excellent take-downs of the DERPSTER of the Decade:

But somehow, this in-duh-vidual managed to get White House Press passes….

DAFUQ, Indeed.

Then This happened a few days ago over at PRI:

Folks, it takes a lot to upset The Major, short of pissing in his Coke.

PRI International pissed in The Major’s Coke.

Therefore, The Major calls all members of #TheResisance to boycott PRI and all of their products they supply (such as the Marco Wurman’s “Boston Calling”, which gets regular airplay on @bbcworldservice.) It seems that, yet again, the quality of US Journalism has sunk to lows of epic proportions (just like my pasnting of Farhrad Manjoo of the New Work Times.)

PRI’s interview with JIm Hoft is a classic example of normailzing deviance:

Normalizing of deviance is what caused Space Shuttle Challenger to explode minutes into it’s mission.

This cannot stand-so you know what to do.

The Major, signing off….

The Major’s #MemorialDay message (especially for #Millenials) for 2017

“Just because a message was not received does not mean it was not worth sending.”

(Cross-posted to @Green_Footballs-Say hi to Lizardim for me…)

(last Update 28 May 2017 03:41 UTC)

This the song that The Major listens every morning as he plys his trade in meat-space:

Reclaiming the name ‘troll’ from ‘seagulls’ (Under Constant updating as new seagulls identified and classified)

It seems that master Yoda is not to terribly fond of seagulls… (Hat tip to “The Miner”):

And of course, so does the Major. Which leads me to talking about trolls….

Ladies and Gentlemen: This is a “troll”:

Ain’t he cuuuuute?

Unfortunately, that little feller up ‘dere identity has been hijacked by popular and Internet culture to mean someone/something causing people to get there jimmies rustled…

The Major takes Farhad Manjoo (or maybe even the New York Times) to the woodshed

(Before I begin let me state publicly that I will only accept contacts via secured email only. All other means of attempting to contact The Major will be logged and ignored.)

Dear Farhad:

Greeting. My Name is the The Major. I have a question to ask of you: just how closely do you follow tech? Seriously….

You see, Farhad, a rather fascinating thing happens on April 21 that lasted about 7 minutes. Those people who work in various networking, OpSec, and FinTech saw this event happen, and many fellow tech writes talked about it.

But sadly, you didn’t:

The Major’s Saturday Movie of The Week (especially for millenials and other people who have never seen this movie:) “The Hunt for Red October (1990)”

Hunt For Red October.jpg

The Major is taking some down time to meditate on the events of the last 48 hours and plan his future campaigns and overall strategy, and to also refresh his precious bodily fluids.  In the meantime, with the recent events of the last 24 hours searing into his consciousness,  The Major recommends a classic movie based on the late Tom Clancy novel of the same name: “The Hunt For Red October“, starring Sean Connery and a very young Alec Baldwin in what The Major believes is his finest performance as an actor, even when you take into account his infamous rant from the movie “Glengarry Glen Moss”. And when you take into account notorious fake news merchant and rabid batshit-whackjob Alex Jones, who seems quite a few fries short of a Happy Meal threatened Baldwin on his fake news site–well, that’s The Major’s kind of guy….

Now, you’re probably wondering (especially you millensials): “Why should I watch a movie that glorifies statecraft and disaster scenarios?” That’s precisely WHY, young padawan. Watch this movie and get some real-world insight-even if it was a novel.

This movie also shows the use of Legacy Weapons by nation-states wishing to wield the sphere of infleunce and power. Of course, Legacy Weapons can still inflict a lot of physical damage-but today’s conventional weapons are far more powerful, cheaper to use, easier to use, and cause significant destabilization if used by actors with questionable motives.  That’s why they’re so dangerous in the wrong hands or willing to be used by other nation-states to cause mischief and mayhem against their intended target.
